When we think of healthy lifestyle practices, a steaming cup of herbal tea is one of the first images that comes to mind. Warm tea provides not only a feeling of comfort and nourishment to the throat as it goes down, but also promotes healthy digestion by enkindling our agni, or digestive fire.
For this reason, Ayurveda regards warm water as a powerful anupan, or carrier substance, to bring herbs deeper into the system. This is why drinking herbal teas on a regular basis is considered one of the most impactful methods of taking herbs.
What Is an Ayurvedic Tea?
Simply put, an Ayurvedic tea is an herbal tea created with the wisdom of Ayurveda. Usually, Ayurvedic teas are prepared to achieve a specific effect in the body, such as to promote healthy sleep patterns, offer natural immune support, or strengthen digestion. Ayurvedic teas are created with the intention of balancing one or more of the doshas (vata, pitta, and kapha) and achieve this goal by blending a synergistic combination of supportive herbs.
Our CCF Tea Blends
CCF Tea is one of the most beloved drinks for digestion in Ayurveda. The acronym “CCF” stands for its ingredients of cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds, each of which plays a role in promoting healthy digestion while encouraging subtle detoxification and gentle cleansing.
Here at Banyan, we love customizing CCF Tea with different herbs and spices like ginger, turmeric, or tulsi. We created a line of teas that use cumin, coriander, and fennel as a base. This includes Joyful Heart for contentment, Detox Digest for deeper cleansing, and Mellow Mind for relaxation and sleep. Each of our CCF Tea blends builds on the original CCF Tea formula with the addition of other supportive herbs to target specific functions in the body.
