In 2021, we continued to navigate various challenges through a time of global crisis, but we also took some major steps and have plenty to be proud of. Here are a few highlights from the past year:
Since we first opened our doors in 1996, our mission—to help people achieve and maintain optimal health and well-being through the wisdom of Ayurveda—has been at the heart of how we conduct business.
As a company informed and inspired by Ayurveda, we recognize that our mission goes beyond the health of the individual and must take into account the health of the whole. With this in mind, environmental and social responsibility is woven into the foundation of how we operate and guides us forward in every choice we make.
We strive to provide the highest quality eco-friendly products while having a positive impact on all who are involved in the process—our farmers, suppliers, communities, employees, customers, and of course, the planet we all call home.
In 2019, we proudly became a certified B Corporation®, joining thousands of other socially responsible companies who are using business as a force for good. The B Corp business model is based on what is known as the triple bottom line, meaning we prioritize people and planet as well as profit.
With this rigorous third-party certification, the nonprofit B Lab® inspects our entire company on a regular basis to ensure we meet their high standards of performance, transparency, and accountability. It also supports us in implementing company-wide employee engagement in responsible and sustainable practices.
In short, it helps keep us on track with our commitment to responsible and sustainable development from day to day, month to month, and year to year. Because we know the choices we make each day have the power to create positive change in the world over time.
As one of our three pillars, we are guided by the principles of fair trade and we are so proud to be a Fair for Life certified Brand Holder. This rigorous fair trade certification process ensures that everyone along the entire certified supply chain is treated fairly and equitably.
By upholding our commitment to provide fairly traded and ethically sourced herbs, we are supporting social and economic equity across the supply chain and fostering mutually beneficial relationships with our suppliers, producers, and small farmers.
By cultivating respectful, long-term collaborations based on sustainable sourcing, the circle of benefits circulates from the fields to the customers, and back to the farmers once again.
