Picrorhiza kurroa, root powder
Kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa) is one of the most popular Ayurvedic herbs for the liver and gallbladder thanks in part to its bitter and pungent taste. It promotes the proper flow of bile, supports the spleen, assists the body in maintaining a robust immune system, and is balancing for both pitta and kapha.*
As a result of severe over-harvesting, the kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa) plant is considered "endangered." In 2005 Banyan stopped selling this amazingly healing herb out of concern for the long term survival of the species and set about finding a sustainable, cultivated source. After pursuing this goal for 7 years it gives us great joy to be able to offer it again. CITES certification indicates that our kutki has been sustainably cultivated in accordance with the requirements of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). May kutki continue to be available for all those who need its wonderful blessings.*
Other products that contain Kutki include:
Kutki liquid extract.
Banyan Botanicals is committed to trading fairly with everyone involved in the farming and production of our herbs.
