I start my day with 8oz of fresh key lime juice and then follow that with a 20oz cup of organic raw carob drink that I make from heated distilled water, and my nut milk, that I make of distilled water... and ground macadamia nuts, hemp seed and a measured amount of brazil nuts ( all organic ) to which I add a 1/4 - 1/2 spoon full of Guduchi and Anantamul, it starts my day off RIGHT ~ Thank you Banyan, for providing us with so much for our health and joy ! BLESSINGS ~~~~

As an Ayurvedic Practitioner, I

As an Ayurvedic Practitioner, I recommend this product to many clients dealing with too much heat in the body. I also use it in other herbal formulations for heat associated with pitta imbalances and female health. Wonderful herb and it tastes so good!!

I have been using Anantamul

I have been using Anantamul powder and Guduchi, and my raw organic Austrailian Carob powder and a little triple nut milk I make in a 20 ounce cup with hot water, for years now. It tastes like a hot cocoa drink, in the morning. . .

Sometimes i have it with peeled apple slices, that i sprinkle a little ceylon cinnamon powder, cardamon powder and a small touch of clove powder. . . and I add a handful of small black currants, and some of the raw dehydrated buckwheat crackers, i make in a small bowl, that tastes a lot like apple pie. . . and i am good to go for the day. . with tons of energy on " no caffiene ". . . . and I am almost 80 now. . . Banyan you are the BEST !!! Namaste ~

The very best Anantamul powder I've tried

This Anantamul powder smells wonderful, has a beautiful color, and is ground to the consistency of very fine coffee or flour.

Thank you for your feedback and review! We’re delighted and honored that you’re pleased with the quality of our Anantamul. We look forward to serving you in the future!

Information error

I live in California where cancer causing agents are noticed. It is Banyan botanical's policy to mark everything as a cancer risk rather than giving accurate information. I think this policy is misleading.

Hi Barbara. Thank you for your feedback, and we understand your concern. The reason we include the warning on California labels is to comply with Prop 65's restrictive laws. For more information about Prop 65, you can visit this page on our website that will explain more about why we chose to put those labels on our California products: https://www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/banyan-herbs/california-prop-65

Potent herbs

Well we have a Dutch saying for that but it doesn’t come across when translated.
The package came in correctly with all the shipment from the states. Although the shipment is quite costly. The herbs smell and look excellent.
I use the Anantamul with Manjista and cinnamon to create the desired taste and effect for Pitta healing in liver, intestines and urinary tract.
I guess the effects are visible by the colour of the urine that comes out. Or it must be like beet that gives a colour. Anyway it take a huge cup of hot tea just after rising and before doing sadhana. It just feels te right thing to do. It will take a while to clear all the pitta because i’ve been storing it for 52 years. But i can feel the energies of the teas i consume.
Kindest regards, Peter from Amsterdam

How long does the herbal powder form of Anantalamul is good for after the bag is opened?

Rachel Euell

Good question. We recommend keeping opened herbs, including Anantamul, in airtight containers and out of direct sunlight to be usable for many years. Though we do suggest using them within 3 years of purchase for best potency and benefit.

Banyan, Thank you for the prompt reply to my 1st Q on anantamul. I could not find anantamul descriptions in Ayurvedic herbal collections (1) by Sebastian Pole, Ayurvedic Medicine, and (2) by Drs Frawley and Lad, The Yoga of Herbs. In absence of references on anantamul, Banyan info about that herb is helpful and stimulating. It includes taste, cooling energy, vipaka, balancing the 3 doshas and selected Ayurvedic actions of the herb. This info is not sufficient, though, to make decisions on how to use this herb for Pitta's benefit for example. Here is what is missing in Banyan's info and is present in Sebastian Pole book on each herb it lists. 1. Dominant taste(s)? 2. Guna? 3. All tissues (dhatus) affected by the herb? 4. Ojas? 5. Ayurvedic actions: 10 and more actions are typically listed for each herb. 6. Indications: Digestion- a dozen or more afflictions can be listed in digestion and in elimination; effects on afflictions of the Lung, Kidney, Spleen/Stomach, Heart, Liver can be list

We provide the basic, Ayurvedic energetics for each of our herbs. For more indepth information, we suggest that you work with a qualified practitioner or herbalist.

I'd like to see all herbal characteristics for anantamul: all tastes. virya, does it induce urination?, special effects, contraindications... Unfortunately , it is not listed among single herbs in the following excellent books: Sebastian Pole Ayurvedic Medicine, Dr. David Frawley's Ayurvedic Healing., and David Frawley and Vasant Lad The Yoga of Herbs.

Rachel Euell

The Ayurvedic energetics for each of our products are listed on the product's page. Here are the energetics for our Anantamul Root Powder (Hemidesmus indicus):

• Rasa (taste): sweet, bitter

• Virya (action): cooling

• Vipaka (post-digestive effect): sweet

• Doshas (constitutions): Balancing for all doshas, especially good for pitta

Our Anantamul helps to cleanse excess pitta dosha from the body and mind. This herb supports the proper function of the kidneys and urinary tract, as well as it helps to remove natural toxins from the blood. Anantamul also has an affinity for the circulatory system. We do not test for the effects of Anantamul on urination, as we surmise that this would vary by individual.

As we are not practitioners and due to the fact that we are regulated by the FDA, we recommend that you work with a qualified, Ayurvedic or healthcare practitioner, or herbalist, to help determine any contraindications and the best course of action for you.
