Excess pitta in the digestive tract can cause frequent or urgent bowel movements that are soft, loose, liquid, or oily. Often, this experience is accompanied by an insatiable appetite and burning digestion due to pitta's sharp and heating qualities. Getting to know Avipattikar is a joy! It's calming to my upward flow of Pitta, as well as balancing to my bowels.
This powder is beautifully crafted by Banyan Botanicals. It is anti-Pitta for anyone with disturbance in the GI tract. When taken in the summer months when Nature is providing us with heat, this product is very soothing to digestion. Young, energetic and ambitious young people who are under a lot of stress and whose Pitta is imbalanced, are the ideal candidates for this product. It is to be taken once daily, preferably in the morning, with either warm water or milk, for best effect. With other kitchen pharmacy such as cumin, coriander, fennel, cardamom and ginger, it makes a digestive which enhances the digestive fire.
I strongly recommend this product.

This is an expertly blended Auyrvedic item.
I can advise it, and all products of this type I have bought from Banyan are easy to take.
This one is pleasant tasting. More towards the sweet end.

I used to use Avipattikar powder from Athreya Herbs, which started to help my digestion. After that was over, my ayurvedic practitioner told me to try Banyan Botanical's Avipattikar powder. The day I took the first dose, I started the gas and uncomfortable feeling. I was sure something was not suiting me from the new Avipattikar. I contacted the practitioner. After going through the content, I got to know that the contents are not exactly for avipattikar from ayurveda. Also, I was told that the contents have been modified since the practitioner was last used the same from banyan. I was so disappointed to know this. If you are planning to buy this product, please have it's contents looked at by a practitioner.
Hi Vikas,
Thank you for your review! We're so sorry that you had a negative experience with our Avipattikar. There are slight variations in classic Ayurvedic formulas from teacher to teacher and region to region. That being said, your experience is not typical, and we want you to be happy above all! We will be reaching out via email to make this right with you. Be well.

Customer service was excellent - quick responses and constant updates. It was a pleasure working with Banyan Botanical's CS. The issue was with UPS leaving the package in a rain exposed area, but BB CS worked with UPS and get it picked up and sent the replacement package asap. appreciated the CS's 'We will fix it for you' attitude. One happy Customer here!!
Helping in my digestion....
I am very pleased with the way the powder is packaged. I bought it to share with a friend and it was easy to separate. I love all the supplements I get from Banyan.
I find this powder is not as effective. I have bought from other sources in India and they are much more effective. I have used more than one teaspoon in warm water and I am don't feel my elimination is complete.
It is easier to buy from Banyan and I hope this formula can be adjusted to full potency.
Hi Girija, we appreciate you taking the time to review and are sorry to hear you aren't completely satisfied with our Avipattikar powder. Generally Avipattikar is considered to promote digestive comfort but is not generally recognized for promoting healthy elimination, which is more Triphala and Haritaki's territory. It might be possible that Avipattikar is not the right formula for what you're trying to achieve. We suggest working with a healthcare practitioner who can prescribe you an herbal regimen. Also please know that we have a 90 day return policy and will be happy to work with you on refunding and returning the item if you wish.

What is good for controling sugar glucose
We suggest consulting with an Ayurvedic health practitioner. You may be interested in our Sweet Ease, which is used to support healthy blood sugar levels already within a normal range and proper function of the pancreas.
is this available in capsules? if not, how is this best ingested for acid reflux, particularly at night?
Due to FDA regulations and the fact that we are not practitioners, we cannot speak to medical conditions of any kind. We recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified, Ayurvedic or health care practitioner to determine what best serves you.
Avipattikar is available in powder form only. While this is the traditional, Ayurvedic form for taking herbs, we also offer some of our herbs and formulations in tablets and liquid extracts.
The suggested use for Avipattikar is ¼ to ½ teaspoon with warm water, once or twice daily, or as directed by your health practitioner.
Please consult with your health care practitioner prior to the use of this product if you are pregnant or nursing, taking medications, or have a medical condition. Keep out of the reach of children.
What is the difference between this and Pitta Digest? Can they be taken together?
Avipattikar is very cooling and soothing to the digestive system, and it specifically helps to remove excess pitta from the GI tract. Pitta Digest is soothing as well, but it is more targeted at supporting complete and comfortable digestion, rather than cooling the system.
can these powders be added to smoothies
Avipattikar is best taken on its own, mixed into warm water. However, we encourage you to experiment and see what works for you!
Why does this formula contain a signifcant amount of cane sugar? Is there an option, wihtout it?
We follow a traditional Ayurvedic formula when making Avipattikar. This formula calls for Saccharum officinarum (sugarcane) as a key ingredient that helps soothe pitta and pacify vata. Sugar also acts as an anupan, or a carrier of herbs, which helps the herbs absorb deeper into the system. We do not offer Avipattikar without its key ingredient of sugarcane. For a sugar-free digestive blend that supports the elimination of excess heat from the GI tract, you may consider Pitta Digest.
