Real thing

I buy my cinnamon from Banyan Botanicals because after doing some basic research I've found not all 'cinnamon' is alike and for maximum health benefits, real cinnamon is necessary. This is real!

Cinnamon Powder

This is a very mild smelling and tasting cinnamon. I would prefer a stronger smell and taste myself but maybe that is just because I don't really know that much about the different types of cinnamon...

Cinnamon So Tasty!!

I have been using this Cinnamon for the last few years. I really enjoy the scent. It tastes good. I use in my hot cereals in the morning and on my cooked fruit for added flavor. Its also very good in a Golden Milk. And in desserts. I tend to use a heaping spoonful when a recipe calls for it. I can’t go wrong with this spice. Its one of my favorites!

Cinnamon has changed

I agree with the previous review. Several months back I purchased a half lb of Cinnamon and was struck by how much I disliked the taste. It tasted like just bark and not the sweet, spicey taste of the cinnamon I have been getting from Banyan for years. I then realized that the old bag said Cinnamon Cassia and that this new bag is Cinnamon Vernum. I am disappointed to see that the Vernum is the only one I can order. I am now stuck with a bag of cinnamon I will not use because I don’t like the taste at all.

Cinnamon lovers…

I have been purchasing Banyon's cinnamon powder for a *very* long time. As I've done for all those years, I recently ordered 2 spice jars (1/2 lb is more economical but a mess to pour into bottles for daily use). After 2 days of use I can no longer use my most recent purchase of this product. The flavor of this most recent product has changed DRAMATICALLY. What was once a soft, subtle, sweet, delicious flavor ("warming") now offers a pungent, peppery/spicey bitter flavor…which is not only upsetting to my stomach/digestion…but, also to my joy of smell. Since my husband is a professionally trained chef, I passed this information by him…and he suggested I immediately stop using this product. Sadly, I've invested close to $15 and am now stuck with 2 jars of this Banyon "Cinnamon" product. So beware…and make sure you know exactly what you are buying/purchasing.

The best cinnamon!

Cinnamon is a huge part of our cooking/baking/beverage making in my household and this is the best cinnamon I have ever tasted. I've been buying it for over 5 years from Banyan and it is always aromatic and delicious. I can't image going back to anything else.

Great quality as usual!

I wasn't too sure about this cinnamon as I've read it's not the typical processed cinnamon marketed for cooking baking etc., but I'm glad I decided to give it a try! It's got a very mild but enjoyable spiciness to it. A great addition to a cup of coffee or a cup of warm cider! I also like that this cinnamon has the potential to produce some health benefits, when used in moderation, that other "cinnamon" products may not!

A Burst of Sweet, Pungent Flavorful Heat

Just opened my latest box of BB goodies and absolutely stunned and delighted with cinnamon powder! Wow, just had to check the description for this powerful, sweet, fragrant and zippy taste treat. So glad I bought 5 bags, I use a lot of cinnamon daily, and put it on a subscription so will see how long it takes me to go thru these yummy bags. As a kid I was a real Red Hots fan and looked up the ingredients to find, as I suspected I would, a form of Cinnamon. Thanks so much for this flavorful new version of cinnamon I really love it! Photo is my new Unemployed Philosopher’s Club mug w/cinnamon, sucanat & buttermilk watered half & half to emulate more closely the texture of buttermilk in India.

First Time I have ever bought pure Cinnamon

This Cinnamon has very strong flavor. I have been buying cinnamon from the grocery store and did not realize the taste was not very potent until I had the cinnamon from Banyan. The flavor is amazing. I will continue to buy this connamon now that I realize how much stronger the taste is compared to my grocery store brand.

Is it possible that Banyan can consider carrying ceylon cinnamon vs cassia, the latter which can carry high levels of coumarin. Thank you!

We understand your concern regarding the coumarin component in cassia cinnamon. According to our research, one would have to consume an excess of 1,000 mg or 1 gram per day for 6 months or longer to be considered at risk for liver problems, which is far beyond our suggested dosage for Cinnamon powder. Banyan chooses to carry Cinnamomum cassia because for a few reasons, in particular, because it is more readily available and more suitable for use in herbal blends.
