SOAK IN THE BENEFITS OF A HEAD MASSAGE

What's the difference between Healthy Hair Oil and Hair Serum?

Both herbal blends have some similarities, including several of the same ingredients (bhringaraj, amla, sesame). They are also made in-house in small batches, according to Ayurvedic traditions, and they have some overlapping benefits, including supporting a healthy scalp and hair. However, they work in different ways and provide different benefits.

Healthy Hair Oil is a traditional Ayurvedic herbal oil. It is heavier, with an earthy herbal aroma. Deeply hydrating and nourishing, it is designed to support dry scalp and hair, and it is an excellent standalone product for deep hair treatments and scalp massage. Hair Serum is an oil-based serum and is lighter in texture and color. It also absorbs faster and was developed for daily use, specifically to support healthy hair growth and a healthy scalp, and it can also be used as a styling serum. You can use both products for well-rounded hair care.

How does Healthy Hair Oil work?

Healthy Hair Oil is a unique oil and is unlike other products on the market. The formula may seem simple—with two base oils and five herbs—but the Ayurvedic process of slow infusing the herbs into the base oils makes a deeply hydrating and nourishing hair oil. Here's a glance at what the herbs have to offer:

  • Bhringaraj (Eclipta alba), known in Ayurveda as the "ruler of the hair," bhringaraj is a cooling herb with a long history of use in supporting healthy hair growth, color, and luster.
  • Amla (Phyllanthus emblica) is a superfood bursting with antioxidants. Studies show it can help protect the hair from oxidative stress and may help support collagen production, which is essential to hair structure.
  • Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) has been traditionally used to support a healthy scalp and strong hair, while gotu kola (Centella asiatica) and cabbage rose (Rosa x centifolia) soothe and nourish the scalp.

Can Healthy Hair Oil be used on all hair types? (Straight, fine, thick, curly, dry, oily, etc.)

Yes, Healthy Hair Oil can be used on all hair types to nourish the scalp and hair and lock in hydration. If you have fine hair or a naturally oily scalp, the oil may feel especially heavy. A weekly hair mask is likely enough, and opt to use a small amount of oil. You can experiment with the length of time you leave it in—30 minutes to an hour may be plenty—and when it's time to wash it out, be sure to apply shampoo to your hair before you get it wet.

If you have dry hair and a dry scalp, you may benefit from using it several times a week, and you can experiment with leaving it in for longer to support deep hydration—try for at least an hour, or even overnight (just protect your linens as the oil can stain).

Will Healthy Hair Oil make my hair greasy? How do I wash it out?

Healthy Hair Oil will make the hair oily, thanks to its deeply nourishing and lubricating ingredients. Depending on your hair type and how much oil you use, you will experience this to a greater or lesser degree. The oil is intended to be washed out after use.

For best results, we recommend applying a gentle shampoo to dry hair and scrubbing first, then rinsing well to remove the shampoo and oil. Repeat if necessary. For more, here's an article on getting oil out of your hair.

Will Healthy Hair Oil darken my light colored hair?

While this certainly doesn't happen to everyone with light colored hair, some people with naturally light hair will notice a subtle darkening from the oil. This is thanks to bhringaraj, which is known in Ayurveda to support hair health, color, and luster. We recommend starting with the smallest bottle of Healthy Hair Oil to make sure it is a good fit for you.

Is Healthy Hair Oil okay to use on color-treated hair?

In general, for most, color treated hair will not be affected when using Healthy Hair Oil weekly, or several times a week. That said, we recommend starting with the smallest bottle of Healthy Hair Oil and do a patch test to make sure it is a good fit.

Can I use Healthy Hair Oil on my beard and moustache?

Yes, Healthy Hair Oil is safe to use on the whole body, including the beard, moustache, eyebrows, and lashes. Be careful to keep the oil out of your eyes.
