  • Supports healthy, hydrated skin
  • Soothes the skin after sun exposure
  • Excellent massage oil for pitta

How To Use

Use daily as a nourishing massage oil to support healthy, vibrant skin:

  • Warm oil if desired to support nourishment and absorption.
  • Massage into your whole body with firm, gentle pressure.
  • Work your way from your hands and feet toward your heart. Use long strokes on the limbs and circular strokes on the joints.
  • Let absorb for 10–20 minutes, then shower to rinse. Careful not to slip!

If preferred, you may practice self-massage after you shower, but be mindful as oil residue can stain clothing and sheets.

Use caution when drying or storing linens exposed to oils as they are potentially combustible when exposed to heat. I love the coconut oil! It smells amazing and is very cooling. I have used it in oil pulling and on my lips on my skin as a moisturizer. This is the second jar I have purchased.

Almost great

I have been buying oils from Banyan Botanical for a few years and in most cases both the products and services have been stellar. This last order, even though all the products I ordered were confirmed by e-mail from the company, they did not include all the products I ordered in my shipment. The absent product was an oil on sale. No note. No e-mail alerting me that it was out of stock or no longer available. Just no product. Unfortunately I was incredibly busy at the time so I didn't contact the company and I just let it go. But it is a blemish on an otherwise perfect record for me with Banyan Botanicals. It will not impact my future ordering, as long as it doesn't happen again. Their products are awesome, prices good and service almost great.

We are very sorry you were not contacted about an item being out of stock or discontinued. We apologize for our mistake.

Quality Oil

I have always purchased high quality coconut oil and Banyan’s rivals the best of them. I use coconut oil in my skin care routine - cleansing, moisturizing - and in cooking. One of the best things about this coconut oil is how it doesn’t break down when heated to higher temps. It stays “clean” and retains its fresh flavor. As far as a beauty product goes, this oil feels a bit above the rest. Once it softens, it goes on like velvet, not grainy or greasy. My skin absorbs it quickly and it seems to last throughout the day. I love this product!

herbs and oils

The quality of the coconut oil was wonderful, very rich and fresh smelling and tasting.
The herbs I bought were harataki and triphala. I do not know what harataki is like in India but the triphala I bought had much more life force, dark green and acted much differently and more effectively in the body then your product. Perhaps you could procure some of this.

Due to variations in soil and climate conditions, Ayurvedic herbs can vary in color and taste. We do our best to procure high quality herbs consistent with our standards of organic production, sustainable sourcing, and fair trade. Additionally, all our herbs are tested for safety as detailed through this link: https://www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/banyan-herbs/quality-control-and-testing/

Love this coconut oil!

I purchased this coconut oil so I could mix it with sesame oil for daily oil massage. I was only expecting to make massage oil a little less heating for summer, but it turned out adding it makes my skin so much smoother and nicer :D Highly recommend it.

I use

I use cocunut oil because I do not like body lotions . I use cocunut oil as a body moisturizer because it is absorbed by the skin and does not leave a residue on the skin. It is easier to apply to the skin . And it is less expensive than body lotions. And it is a natural oil.

Can you heat up cocount oil for abyanga massage

Rachel Euell

Absolutely! If your oil has solidified, simply allow the amount you want to use to warm to room temperature. If you are preparing to use a small amount of the oil for Abhyanga (daily self-massage), you can scoop out the amount you wish to use into a glass container and then put the glass container in warm water. It will quickly liquefy.

Deepal

Hi, I would like to buy the 128 oz. bottle of coconut oil. But, I am concerned that I will have a hard time "pouring" the oil out of the bottle. What is the best way to remove the oil without having to heat it to 76°? Thank you!

Rachel Euell

Thanks for your question Deepal. Coconut oil tends to solidify when it is below 75 degrees. For the large gallon bottle, it will need to be somewhat warm for the oil to become liquid and pourable. The smaller sizes of coconut oil come in wide-mouth containers, which may be a better option for you!

P
Priya

What is the country of origin for this oil?

Rachel Euell

We source our coconut oil from various locations, including The Philippines, Columbia, India, and Sri Lanka.

P
Priya

Hello,

I wanted to add this question to my earlier one, but it erroneously sent it before adding this part.

My questions are;

1. What is the country of origin of the coconut oil.

2. Are there any advantages (or disadvantages) of using refined oil for massages, as against unrefined and cold pressed?

3. For my 1 year old toddler, can I use this oil, to massage the scalp? Would Bringaraj or Brahmi be a better choice instead?

Rachel Euell

Thank you for you questions. We source our coconut oil from various places, including the Philippines, Columbia, India, and Sri Lanka. Choosing between a refined or unrefined, massage oil can be a matter of personal preference. The refining process involves an expeller pressed method. It is a good oil for self massage for those who prefer a lighter bodied oil with less of a scent. Generally, refined oils are good for kapha and pitta doshas. Unrefined oils contain more impurities they have a slightly stronger scent. The unrefined, heavier weight oils are supportive for vata dosha.

There are many Ayurvedic herbs and oils that are beneficial to the whole family, from little children to the elderly. When it comes to children, we always recommend working with a practitioner first. Our oils are suitable for healthy children, ages 2 years and up. Generally, a gentle Sesame or Sunflower Oil is appropriate.
