Kapha

As the dosha comprised of earth and water, kapha is all about cohesiveness, structure, and lubrication.

We have much to be thankful for when it comes to this dosha: like the container that holds things together, kapha lends form and solidity to all things, and it is the embodiment of love and compassion. And as the dosha responsible for lubrication, we can thank kapha for hydrating all cells and systems, lubricating our joints, moisturizing our skin, maintaining our immune system, and essentially protecting our tissues.

But when this watery dosha goes out of balance, it can lead to a whole slew of issues for the whole person, physically, mentally, and emotionally—such as sadness, lethargy, attachment, greed, and stagnation and congestion throughout the physiology, to name a few.

If this sounds familiar and you're experiencing a kapha imbalance, don't fret—Ayurveda offers ample resources to help you come back to balance. There are plenty of herbs for kapha and suggestions that can help you incorporate a kapha diet and lifestyle. Make changes in a way that feels empowering and inspiring to you. These articles are here to guide you on your journey!
