Breathe Free Balm—A Warming Herbal Chest Rub

A soothing rub to nourish the lungs and sinuses is a staple in many household cabinets. Adults and children alike want to be able to do the most basic function—breathe—with the greatest ease. It is vital to our daily and nightly life.

At Banyan Botanicals, we were inspired to create Breathe Free Balm because we wanted a balm that was made from natural ingredients (no, petroleum is not considered a natural ingredient). We wanted to create a unique chest rub that utilizes truly beneficial and nourishing Ayurvedic herbs, in addition to the essential oils that most balms already have.

Breathe Free Balm is unique in that Ayurvedic herbs have actually been cooked into the base of the balm, unlocking the many beneficial properties of the herbs. These herbs include calamus, kalmegh, licorice, eucalyptus, ginger, pippali, fennel, and clove. The benefit is the ability to use these amazing herbs in a way that can directly penetrate the tissues without causing the irritation that can occur with heavy use of essential oils. The base is made of mostly castor oil, which is soothing and nourishing, along with sesame and sunflower oils, and beeswax. The essential oils of eucalyptus and cedar leaf have been added to provide additional aromatherapy.

We are thrilled to be able to offer this truly unique product that we think our customers of all ages will enjoy! It is a great product to keep on hand, and it can be used as much or as little as you would like, without worry!

Here are some ways to use Breathe Free Balm:

  1. Use generously before sleep, or apply during the day for additional comfort.
  2. Rub on the chest and back, and mildly along the sinuses.
  3. Rub on the chest and back and mildly along the sinuses. Follow with a warm, dry compress on these areas. To make a compress, place a handful of mustard seeds in a cheese cloth or old thin t-shirt and tie the end. Gently warm the compress over a dry pan until it becomes very warm, being careful to test the temperature on your hand before you use it (especially if you are doing this on a child). Place the warm compress over the sinuses, on the chest, on the back, or along the neck.
  4. Rub generously on the feet to further ground and calm the body.

Enjoy this newest member of the Banyan balm family! It is a helpful companion when you crave relaxed, easy breathing, and can be taken with you when you are on the go.
