No expiration dates.

There are no expiration dates on any of the items I purchased from Banyan.

Thank you for your review. Our powdered herbs are best used within two years of purchase and retain their potency best if kept in a closed container out of direct sunlight in a cool, dry place. They will gradually lose their potency over longer times in much the same way as kitchen spices will lose their ability to flavor food over time.

Hi there, I noticed that the description for this herb speaks of supporting healthy aging, as well as references to help younger women re: menstruation and lactation--but doesn't mention menopause specifically. Any thoughts about if/how this would support menopausal women? Thank you.

Rachel Euell

Thanks for reaching out to us with this great question, J! Vidari Kanda can be wonderfully supportive to the reproductive system, for both men and women! A few examples include strengthening and nourishing the tissues, supportive to vitality, as well as healthy aging in seniors. Vidari Kanda is actually is one of three herbs that make up the foundation of our Women's Natural Transition herbal formula! For further information, please check out this informative health guide on menopause! https://www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/ayurvedic-living/living-ayurveda/health-guides/menopause-guide/

Does this help with weight gain in adult women?

Rachel Euell

This is a great question, Josalyn! As a company we need to stay within FDA guidelines and laws which do regulate what we are legally allowed to share. So, it would be best to work with an Ayurvedic practitioner to offer you a more specific, individualized recommendation for you and your body. With that being said, it may be helpful to explore any imbalances that may result in a more challenging attempt at achieving your health goals. We recommend looking for Vata pacifying foods and practices that can be incorporated into your daily routine. Here are two different resources that may be supportive to you and your curiosities: Vata Balancing: Practical Tips & Tools for a Balanced Life and Achieving Your Healthy Weight: An Ayurvedic Guide to Weight Management.

What is the difference between Ipomoea digitata and Pueraria Tuberosa, more commonly called Vidari Kanda.

Rachel Euell

Ipomoea digitata is the Latin, botanical name for this variety of Vidari Kanda, from the Convolvulaceae family. Pueraria tuberosa is the botanical name for the species of this tuberous plant from the Fabaceae family. It is most commonly known by the English name, Indian kudzu, or by the Hindi name, Vidarikanda.

Can i add to my morning chai/turmeric latte? How much liquid should these powders be added to?

Rachel Euell

You could add our Vidari Kanda to your morning chai. The cooling virya or action of this herb, along with the sweet, bitter rasa (taste), should balance the warming spices in chai. We usually suggest using about 6-8 oz of warm water.

Hi, how should I take this with Shatavari for severe hot flashes and should it be once or twice per day? thanks

Rachel Euell

Creating your own formulas can be tricky, which is why we recommend working with a qualified Ayurveda practitioner and herbalist to determine the best combination and dosage for your unique situation. For more general use, the suggested serving is ¼ to ½ teaspoon with warm water, once or twice daily, or as directed by your health practitioner.
