WHY CANE SUGAR?
“Sitopala” literally means “rock candy,” pointing to the use of natural cane sugar in this formula. Prized in Ayurveda for its role as a carrier substance, this key ingredient takes the benefits of the other herbs deeper into the tissues of the body. It also works to calm vata, soothe pitta, and balance the effects of the heating herbs.*

Please stop selling a formulation pretending as Ayurvedic Sitopaladi churna without paying attention to correct ingredients. Your formula uses Stop using Cinnamomum Cassia which is not having same "dravaguna" as zeylanicum. I have checked FIMS spectrometry profile and content of coumarin and cinnamic aldehyde of your product which is high enough to make it unsuitable for long term use. Compare that to any other premium quality Sitopaladi churna sourced from India and these unwanted ingredients will be Ultra low in their composition. Is Banyan product managers ready to accept a challenge to prove otherwise? I need a full refund of half pound purchase I made trough amazon.
I am not arguing here about organic product quality which may be high. The point here is you sell a product labeled as "Sitopaladi" and it does not stand to the real benefits the authentic and traditional composition.
Hi Alok, thank you for taking the time to write this review! We want you to be happy with your purchase, so we'll be contacting you to make sure you were able to receive a refund through Amazon. We agree that there certainly are differences between the two cinnamons, and each has something slightly different to offer from an Ayurvedic viewpoint. Some of the reasons we choose to use the Cinnamomum cassia are because it is more readily available and reasonably priced, and is more suitable for use in blends. We are confident in the quality, efficacy, and balancing energetics of our Sitopaladi powder.

Just a note to comments re can purchase cheaper elsewhere - beware the buyer - as a crew member with trips to India and China monthly many of my crew friends initially would pick up herbs and spices only to learn unfortunately today the land where these herbs grow are laided with heavy lead concentrations and have gotten very ill. So yes, you may find cheaper elsewhere but with Banyan Products you can be assured their products are absolutely free of lead or any heavy metals as they conform with US practices and held to a much higher standard than imports into the US.
So far I am very happy with this purchase. I am trying to lead a healthier life and learning about Ayurvedic living. Hoping to keep healthy lungs through the winter!

Second purchase of both items and sitopiladi is much coarser than first bottle but seems to be fine.
nitially I had a little bit of a rash but it did pass so my body seems to have adapted to them; tried to isolate to see which one, but couldn't tell. Warning....it is very bitter so keep a little water handy to sip after taking. My doctor has me taking it at end of meal after some other things between the meal so it is terrible to do this after eating a lovely meal, but it is serving its purpose so I don't mind.
Service from Banyan was great and received in a short period of time and packing was good.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Whenever someone has an adverse effect to one of our products, we take it very seriously. We invite you to give us a call so we can discuss your reaction with you. Happy to hear it subsided, though, and you are benefiting from the herb.

Very nice product.
I paid 3x more than a local store. Don't buy form here.

I am considering Sitopaladi vs. Pollen Protect, to help with seasonal allergies, constricted breathing, sneezing, headache... but I'm having trouble understanding the differences in the two products. Do you recommend one or the other, or both together? Thank you!
As we are not practitioners and due to the fact that we are regulated by the FDA, we are not able to speak to medical conditions of any kind. We recommend that you work with a qualified, Ayurvedic or healthcare practitioner, to help determine the best course of action for you.
We can tell you that one of the primary differences between our two products is the energetics. Sitopaladi is sweet, pungent (rasa/taste), heating (virya/action) and has a sweet, post-digestive effect or virya. While balancing to all doshas, it can increase pitta in excess.
Pollen Protect is bitter, pungent, cooling and has a pungent, post-digestive effect. This herbal formulation is balancing to all doshas and is especially helpful in pacifying pitta and kapha in the respiratory system.
While both products support a healthy, immune response and promote a healthy respiratory system, they are available in different forms. Sitopaladi comes in powder form and Pollen Protect is available in tablets.
Can I offer small dose to my 16 month old daughter. She often gets sick at day care and I am just tired of using oral OTC medicines. Thanks.
As we are not practitioners, we suggest that you work with a qualified, Ayurvedic or health care practitioner to determine the best course of action for you and your child. Generally, we don't recommend herbs for children under the age of two years.
Little ones have different needs and many experience herbs differently than adults. They are also physically smaller so it's important to adjust the amount given and it is important to factor in the health and needs of the individual, before giving an herb or formula. With all of this in mind, some herbs can be used by healthy children, above the age of two years, who occasionally need a little extra support.
There are several ways to determine how much to give a child. We generally use a formula factoring in weight, which divides the child's weight by 150 (150 represents the average weight of an adult). For example, if your child weighs 50 pounds, divide 50 by 150 and you get 1/3. This means that you would give your child 1/3 of the recommended amount.
For Sitopaladi, virya(action) says heating. But Sito means having cooling effect. So am bit confused here. I am thinking of ordering Sitopaladi as usually other herbs like trikatu are very heating in nature and me being pitta -kapha body type cannot tolerate heating herbs. But would like something to soothe my kapha without increasing pitta.
Hi Priya, great question!
“Sitopala” literally means “rock candy,” pointing to the use of sugar in this formula, a key ingredient that acts as a carrier, taking these herbs deeper into the tissues while it calms vata, soothes pitta, and balances the effects of the heating herbs.
If you find that this formula is too heating for you, another option could be our Healthy kapha formula. It is well suited for all constitutions, and is especially balancing for kapha.
We hope you find this helpful!
Hi
My husband has lungs that are a bit damaged inside. He is a vata. Would this product be good for him? Or do you suggest another? Thanks
We are unable to post your question due to FDA restrictions on comments referencing medical conditions.
