Ayurveda provides us with phenomenal guidelines and practices for living in accordance with our own unique nature.
When I began to study Ayurveda, I was taken by its soulful approach. I recall being touched and moved to tears learning that the root cause of all dis-ease is that we've forgotten that we are Spirit.
This made so much sense to me. Feelings of stress, anxiousness, fear, sadness, worry—these are all possible states we fall into when we feel disconnected from something larger than ourselves.
A major part of my daily rejuvenation practice is gratitude. When I see things through the lens of appreciation—even when my life doesn't look exactly the way I think it should—my heart softens and I feel better.
We can't heal in a state of fear or anger. In fact, when these states are experienced for long periods of time they become depleting and debilitating not only to our mental and emotional bodies, but also physically.
Take two minutes every day and write down everything you can think of that you feel grateful for. I suggest getting a notebook that you use only for this purpose.
As you're writing down all the things you appreciate in your life, make sure that you tap into the feeling of gratitude. It's important that this is more than a mental exercise. Healing through gratitude occurs when you align yourself with the feeling.
The more time you spend cultivating this feeling, the better you will feel and the faster you will heal!
Feeling gratitude builds ojas, which is our fortitude and vigor, and it is associated with the immune system. Gratitude also strengthens prana (life force) and helps to regulate the nervous system. Finding appreciations throughout your day is the ultimate balancing (tridoshic) practice that will amplify all good things in your life!
