ABOUT THE NEEM TREE
The neem tree is a fast-growing evergreen tree in the mahogany family (Meliaceae). These trees are well known for their drought resistance and mature into large, beautiful shade trees that can live for up to 200 years. To harvest, some of the branches are cut and stripped of leaves, which are then dried and processed.

THE BITTER BENEFITS
In some parts of the world, the neem tree is called the "Village Dispensary" because each part of the plant possesses at least one health-promoting property. Thanks to its bitter, cooling, and drying qualities, it is widely used in Ayurveda for practically all types of pitta and kapha imbalances, and it is especially renowned for supporting natural detoxification, healthy skin, and a healthy immune system.*

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed adding Neem to my supplements. I take it daily to support my skin and was especially drawn to its cooling properties since I tend to be more pitta dominant.
The reason for three stars is that many of the tablets in my bottle arrived broken or crushed. I’m sure this happened during transit, but it did make things a bit messy and less comfortable to take, and a few tablets were unfortunately wasted.
That said, I’ll continue ordering from Banyan and am hopeful they’ll arrive intact next time!
My provider suggested I take neem with tumeric to control heat in my feet along with withdrawal of from having chilies in my diet. They are a great addition to my diet.
My provider recommended this product for overall health.
I love this product. It is helping to clear up my skin. I will continue to purchase this from Banyan. Thank you!
I saw great improvement in my digestion and cooled my mind and body. It didn't increase vata for me. I felt much calmer and happier because of these tablets. And healthy digestion is incredibly important as Ayurveda has taught us and Neem really helped.
I love Banyan Botanical’s products!
I break the tablets in half and chew up one half every morning before breakfast to aid digestion
My Pitta constitution gets easily aggravated in Summertime heat. These help me stay cool internally, even when the outside temps soar. I've also found they are great help against PItta skin eruptions.

I am very pleased with ALL products developed by Banyan Botanicals. I have had the privilege of touring the facility as well as to have met both the Founder and exceptional employees. I appreciated the informational sheet that came with the Neem tablets, as I too believe there is a sacred-ness in plants, botanicals that serve as medicinals. Before I use the tablets, I set a clear intention and ask that the product serves me for the greatest good. I am happy to say that I "feel" clearer, if that is understandable, and my vision is also clearer when I take the tablets. I have more energy in the days following the tablets, I suspect is is due to the detox of my system. I truly love Banyan Botanical products. Your products are products I can ALWAYS count on for quality and efficacy. Thank you for sharing your vision & wisdom of health with so many others like me.
Thank you for your kind words, Cecelia. It sounds like you are approaching wellness in an advanced and holistic way. We make efforts to clarify our intentions daily here at Banyan Botanicals to serve our valued customers with integrity.

I purchased this based on the opinion of an Ayurvedic herbalist for skin break outs. Within a week the problem was gone.

Tablet is extremely better , and it is good to taste , yet to see the out come,
Is it safe to take Neem with Hashimoto's Disease (hypothyroidism)? I read that it could possibly over-activate the immune system? Is this correct?
Thank you for your question, CLW! Though we very much appreciate you trusting us with this inquiry, we are not practitioners here at Banyan and are unable to speak to medical conditions of any kind or offer medical advice per FDA regulations. We recommend that you work with a qualified, Ayurvedic or healthcare practitioner, to help determine the best course of action for you and your body. For more detailed information on Ayurvedic herbs, we suggest you read the various herbal texts from preeminent teachers like Dr. Vasant Lad (such as, The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies) and master herbalist Sebastian Pole (such as, Ayurvedic Medicine).
In order to balance the vata aggravating quality of neem, with what other herbs should Neem be taken in combination?
Great question! Ideally, we recommend working with an Ayurvedic practitioner to help you create an herbal regimen based on your intentions. Neem is cooling and depending on your objective, it can be taken with many other herbs. For example, we suggest looking at the herbs listed in our Healthy Skin formula (under Product Facts). The blend is balancing for all doshas (especially pitta). In Ayurveda, it is important to consider the overall energetics of herbs, as well as their particular purpose. Can I take the healthy skin, neem, and triphila tablets together ?
You can take our Healthy Skin formula with Triphala tablets. Healthy Skin is a blend of cooling herbs, including neem, that soothes excess heat (pitta) in the body and supports the body's natural ability to cleanse the blood, lymph, and liver. While you could add a little more Neem to the combination, it is not necessary, and you might find it to be too cooling.
I can't swallow pills, can I crush the tablets and take them that way?
That is actually a good idea, as in Ayurveda, the taste of the herbs is considered an advantage for maximizing their beneficial effects. You could either simply chew them up or you could get a mortar and pestle and grind them to a powder before ingesting. Alternatively, we also offer Neem in powdered form and as a liquid extract.
hello, would neem be beneficial for enterococcus streptococcus infections?
Ive read some studies but maybe you have more experience.
Im trying to find an alternative for conventional antibiotics (allergic to many).
How long and what dosage per day would be beneficial? is powder or extract better?
Many thanks
We are not able to speak directly to a medical condition, due to FDA restrictions. However, Neem has traditionally been used to purify the blood, cleanse the liver and support the immune system. According to Sebastian Pole, "Neem is an anti-bacterial and very effective for all types of inflammatory skin conditions and bacterial infections. He also states, "Neem oil can be especially effective when applied externally." We carry Neem in tablet form, powder, liquid extract, and oil.
Powders are the most traditional way to ingest herbs. One of the great aspects of selecting powdered herbs is the ability to taste the herb. Taste is incredibly important in Ayurveda as it is the first stage of digestion. Our recommended dosage is 1/4 to 1/2 tsp with warm water, once or twice daily. Tablets are convenient, and if you desire, by chewing or sucking on them for a bit before swallowing, you can still taste the herb. Our recommended dosage for Neem tablets is 1-2 tablets, once or twice daily. The biggest advantage to taking liquid extracts is that they don't have to be broken down by your digestive system, and so they are more readily and quickly absorbed. Because the plant's chemical constituents have already been extracted into the liquid, your body doesn't have to go through the process of breaking down the plant materials that usually accompany them. This can be particularly helpful if you have slow or weak digestion. Our recommended dosage is 30 drops in water or juice, 1-3 times daily. There are no efficacy differences between the three forms.
When dealing with a medical condition, it is always advisable to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner, who has the knowledge and ability to examine and prescribe higher dosages, when appropriate.
